Been a while since I checked on this one. Character creation was just as delightful as I remembered. Glad to see an update. I really enjoyed coming up with an alias for my demon this time. And meeting the family. Very fun. I hope you are doing well.
oh my GOD this was probably the best demo ive ever seen of anything in my entire life and im literally so hype for the rest to come out.
MY OBSERVATIONS AND THOUGHTS !! it honestly took me a few hours to even get to chapter one, i was talking with my friends for most of it and even then there were so many cool options and dialogue that tommy and his peers could share, i was like enamored with all of it. this was seriously so cool, the conversation between everybody just came so natural and its like theyre really people and theyre there yknow? OH MY GOD AND DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE MUSIC THAT SHIT ACTUALLY FUCKS !!!!! at the beginning screen i was like "oh cool theres background music" and then when the game finally started and that cool title screen music came on i just felt something awaken in me, and i deaduzz felt this every time i heard that "zorlok" title music its actually so cool. kudos to whoever made that, it was so awesome... the actual background music was also very nice, not overwhelming, honestly really nice to have while i was chatting away with my friends most interactive games like this will let you choose what your mc looks like n allat but duuduue dued dued dude dude this one was just different. DONT ASK ME HOW, IT WAS JUST DIFFERENT it was so soo cool and awesome and really better then anything else ive seen idk how to describe it you just did such a cool awesome job bro maybe my memory is serving me wrong but so far i havent seen any intro to an IF game like this start the way this has. usually we start as, well.. us, and we get to choose what we look like n allat but i liked the idea of us starting as tommy and learning this this and that about him and just UFH this is so cool bro your absolutely wonderful. i feel like im glazing but dude finishing this at 6am was such an experience and i must express it to YOU, dear developer i promise this is the last thing. the game takes place in washington but im pretty sure your british, or atleast not from america. im not from washington either but idk anybody in the US who calls their pants "trousers" or says "bloody hell". this isnt criticism, i just thought it was kinda silly how i noticed all those little things and u probably didnt even realize u wrote it in

Aw, thank you so much <3 (and there's never a need to apologize for writing a bunch, it always makes my day). The music is by an artist called Darren Curtis and then all the background sounds are from freesound.org. I highly recommend checking out Curtis's work, it's very good.
Also, the archaic language is an intentional choice that hopefully does make Zorlok sound outdated and out of place. They haven't been on Earth for several centuries so they use English words and phrases that would've been popular/existed during the time they were last hearing them—even if they can't remember what they were doing then. (I end up using the Oxford English Dictionary a lot lol to check and make sure that I'm not using things that were beyond their time)

Mannn that was fun as hell! I really do sympathize with Zorlok because imagine waking up with no memory of yourself and seeing bits and pieces of who you used to be. I had a lot of options to be rude to Tommy, which is fair, but then I remembered this is a kid who's like 15 years old, of course he didn't think that far and this is also his first time experiencing magic. Naturally he'd be mistaken or didn't understand the severity. So I'm glad there were at least some where we could be civil with Tommy.
Also, he's such a nice kid who's genuinely trying to help and correct his very severe mistakes. I'm not sure if it was because of my choices but I really did enjoy communicating with Tommy, I sure hope we can communicate with our Hellhound soon because man I want to re-experience that bond again.
Aaa I'm so looking forward to whatever the hell is going to happen next! Looking forward to all of them and once again, amazing job!!
omg yes i was thinking this same way. i mostly gave tommy the silent treatment since i was pretty sorry for both of them. imagine summonning this cool ass demon that wants to be your friend and then suddenly you make them forget everything they know about themself, and then imagine being said demon. disappointment all around i fear
Ok but first off the game is great, I loved it, I love the interactions between tommy and our demon (or well maybe the ones I choose) and the amount of customization you can do to it, but I have a question...were you prepared for somebody to name the demon Ares? Honestly if I was you I would also expect it who wouldn't name a demon Ares is like the best name out there for one (In retrospect I think I made the most stereotypical demon-looking guy but give me faith)
When I tell you that there are hundreds if not thousands of names I've programmed to trigger unique responses... but yes, Ares is one of them in the general religious category lol
This game is really really awesome so far! I'm impressed at the sheer amount of effort put into just the first part of the IF. The coding, the customization options, the aesthetics, awesome!! I'm at the Miss Stella shop part. Though I noticed when I tried to save it gave me an error, though I figured that wasn't too bad. Until I tried to save to disk and realized that was also giving me an error! The autosave kind of lags behind, and I like my freedom with my save points, so hopefully this can be fixed soon! Unless the error's on my end I suppose?
Here's the error. It appears to be the same one for both the save button and the save to disk button.

Sorry for late reply! And yes, it does not create a save nor will it save to disk and just gives me that error. And by autosave lagging I mean it's usually a page or two behind the one I'm on. I assume the autosave just saves every time a certain amount of time passes, not every time a choice is made or the IF continues to the next page. This isn't actually a problem, as I assume this is how the autosave is intended to work, I just mentioned it so you'd know why I wasn't just using the autosave, as I prefer manual saves is all.
Hello. Sorry for the super late response, I spoke with some other developers and as far as we can guess it's probably an issue with the browser/app you were using. If you were using the desktop app, that uses something called Electron which doesn't run JavaScript. Switching to the autoname saves function might help but if not, I would recommend trying a different browser/not using the app. If the problem still persists, please let me know.

I like Tommy but I literally want to strangle him after he made me into Zorlok because right now my character is like a hissy, sopping wet cat in the rain. Great writing!
Holy crap, okay, this was such a fucking ride and I love it. I named my demon's alias 'Magdalene' thinking nothing of it, and Tommy actually pointed it out! I was not expecting that! Makes me wonder what other names I can put that gets different responses.

The writing is good and the music adds to the atmosphere, but up to the point I read you have more control over Tommy than Zorlok. Even though the synopsis makes it clear that you are supposed to play as Zorlok.
To be honest it feels like Tommy is supposed to be the main POV character.

At the start of Episode 1 you are in Zorlok's POV and I also would not change it because the way the reveal is written is really cool.
Yeah, as the rest of the game comes out you'll play more as Zorlok. Tommy is the POV character for the prologue, which is most of what's been released at this point, but that's it.
Oof tommy is so accidentally infuriating. I like the kid but i also simultaneously want to zip his mouth shut. He's giving my poor demon a headache 😭 kid is a walking trouble magnet and i can't wait for my mc to be in complete denial about caring for him later 🤣♥️
This game is awesome. I know it's just the prologue, but I am loving it already! I especially like the the way you're coding it, there are many (fun and interesting) choices in the game and they are incorporated into the writing in a very even, fluid engaging way. (If you know what I mean). Oh and the music! I especially love the main theme. Anyway, I think I've gone on long enough. I am very intrigued, I will wait patiently for the first chapter.
I WAITED THREE YEARS FOR THIS WE ARE SO BACK!!!!!!! i'll comment more but for now i just want to say you're a genius for having the tone tag indicator thing. this is genuinely such a lifesaver I CANT WAIT TO PLAY!!!
I decided to play through this again when I remembered that the demo was rereleased with some changes and WOW did it not disappoint. I actually really feel bad for the demon (before Zorlok) because from the beginning they were really chill and just talking to Tommy, especially the questioning scene. It was like they were really bonding and it genuinely made me distressed seeing the demon's whole identity and memories being erased. And the betrayal they felt when Tommy unknowingly made those changes!
In the original demo, there wasn't any sort of that bonding moment (from what I remember), it was just a contract gone wrong and the demon being a stereotypical demon who would take advantage of Tommy. But this demon actually really made me feel a connection and man, it must have gutted Tommy to realize that Zorlok isn't just a random name, it's a name that holds an identity in Tommy's head that the contract clung to and changed the demon.
I'm hoping that the demon isn't too pissed off at Tommy but then again, their entire identity was erased for that moment. I'm hoping they went into hibernation or is watching everything from inside their body watching over the entire fiasco because then it would soothe my heart. Aaaa I'm so looking forward to July 13th! I hope we get to have more scenes of Zorlok and Tommy navigating this confusing part because without the knowledgable and experienced demon, they're literally newborn babies.
WAITT I WAS THINKING THE EXACT WAY WITH THE TWO OF THEM TALKING !! itwas so jolly and joyous until it wasnt, even *i* felt betrayed ! i just discovered this game so seeing this description of the original demo is so intruiging !! i like what the game is currently and this makes me happy i happened to find it now.

First of all, amazing writing. Honestly better than some actual books I've read. Additionally, the amount of customization really surprised me, especially the fact that it all actually affected dialogue. The minuscule details of glasses and claws being the only abnormal features that I chose each had their own line, it makes me want to just replay the customization to see what other unique lines I could get.
Wow...just...wow. I never thought that just the prologue of a game would be so entertaining. The world-building has been great, you set out a clear (albeit unorthodox) objective, and fairly extensive customization options. I'm excited to see how this will go so please, despite what anyone might say, don't feel pressured to get out a new update when you still have concerns.
